Masonry paint

Create stunning exteriors, breathe new life and colour into building facades, all while making a positive impact on the environment with the revolutionary range of masonry paints from Graphenstone.

Graphenstone’s infusion of graphene nanotechnology across all their products is truly groundbreaking. To give you an idea of how groundbreaking, the two scientists who discovered this ‘super-material’ won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010.

Graphenstone founder Antonio Leon had the idea of incorporating Graphene into his natural, ecological and health-conscious, lime-based exterior brick paints to create coverings with natural flexibility, weather resistance and conductivity that are ready for the demands of the 21st Century and primed to meet the ecological and sustainability expectations of environmentally conscious customers.

As well as delivering the benefits you’d expect from high-quality masonry paint  – such as acting as a weather shield, protecting your property’s exterior from wear and tear and the perils of pollution – Graphenstone masonry paint possesses powers other masonry paints lack. Namely, the power to transform bungalows into beech trees and apartment blocks into forests of oak. Graphenstone paints have powerful air purification properties, effectively turning your home into a part of the wildlife. Just three 15 litre pots of Graphenstone masonry eco-paint absorb over 10kg of CO2 from the atmosphere. That’s the same amount as an adult tree weighing 250kg absorbs over the course of a year. It’s why Graphenstone’s nanotechnology gives the masonry paint range the right to claim to be the masonry paint for the green generation.

And don’t go thinking that these eco-friendly features come at the expense of toughness. Far from it. Graphene is the strongest material known to science, at 200 times that of structural steel. This strength extends to all our masonry paint range; it’s the first natural paint to achieve a Class 1 strength rating.

The graphene infusion in our masonry paint gives each coat an elasticity and flexibility that makes the range far more crack-resistant than other exterior masonry paints. So whatever part of the world you’re in, and whatever the weather wants to throw at your exterior surfaces, you can be sure that Graphenstone masonry paint will protect your home, workplace, or wherever else you’re applying this revolutionary exterior paint.

6 Reasons To Choose Graphenstone Masonry Paints

Graphenstone masonry paints are premium quality, hardwearing, long-lasting, odourless paints that brighten up building exteriors and stand up to the worst the weather can throw at them. Here are six great reasons to choose Graphenstone masonry paint to protect and transform a building exterior and make an invaluable contribution to the ecology of the local area:

1. World’s Most Technologically advanced masonry paint

Innovation isn’t a term usually paired with the paint industry. Innovation has in fact been stagnant in this space for decades. Graphenstone have changed that, using groundbreaking nanotechnology to make paints more durable, washable and cost efficient. And as far as masonry paint goes, Graphenstone’s unique fusion of graphene nanotechnology and natural building materials such as limestone and silicate deliver the most advanced masonry paint you can dip a brush into.

2. World’s Most Environmentally Friendly Paint

Graphenstone masonry paint is paint that actively makes a positive difference to any environment where it is applied. Graphenstone paints are 100% natural, ecological, sustainable, and healthy coatings that pack incredible powers – they can transform exterior brickwork and concrete blocks into active breathing surfaces that will absorb damaging CO2 from the atmosphere. So with every coat you apply, you are doing your part to help the world enjoy cleaner air and creating a healthier living environment for your home. Whoever thought anyone would ever say that about masonry paint? By coating exteriors with Graphenstone masonry paint, you are, in effect, giving your home the ecological powers of trees, helping to filter out impurities and pollution from the air we all breathe.

3. Energy Saving

There’s even more great news when it comes to the environmentally friendly nature of Graphenstone masonry paint. It’s natural reflective powers and thermal conductivity contribute to energy savings in homes you apply it to.

4. Durability

When you buy masonry paint, you look for a long-lasting coating with he durability to protect the façade of your building, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in the Graphenstone exterior paints range. Graphene is 200 times stronger than structural steel, and remarkable flexible and elastic. The graphene in our formula gives Graphenstone masonry paint incredible abrasive durability, so you can rely on the masonry paint you brush on to stay on, crack-free and protect long-term.

5. Elasticity

With more extremes of temperature being witnessed in many locations worldwide, the flexibility of Graphenstone masonry paints allows them to stretch to accommodate the expansion and contraction that occurs in scorching hot and icy conditions. It means you can avoid the unsightly and potentially damaging hairline cracks that might well appear when you apply other masonry paint.

6. Anti-Fungal, Anti-Algae, Anti-Mould

The natural ability of Graphenstone masonry paint to resist the spread of fungi and algae allows the coating to retain its strength and quality appearance for longer than many traditional masonry paints. Our paints are highly alkaline due to their lime and silicate base, with a natural pH of 12. This ensures mould, fungus and bacteria find it near impossible to grow on the surface of our paints.

Some Graphenstone Exterior Masonry Paint Products

Biosphere Premium

This robust and long-lasting ecological lime paint with graphene is specifically formulated for the construction, restoration, and repainting of exteriors. Its natural mineral formula gives a matt finish that won’t crack or yellow over time and is washable, breathable and able to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, thereby contributing to cleaner air for all. It can be used for interior walls as well as exterior walls and comes in 1 litre, 4 litre, 12.5 litre, and 15 litre pots.

AmbientPro+ Premium

This is a natural masonry paint containing titanium dioxide and graphene technology. Titanium dioxide is photocatalytic, meaning the paint reacts with pollutants in the air when light shines on it and decomposes those pollutants. It decomposes organic compounds and inorganic gases. When you pair this with the CO2 absorption of the lime base, the result is a remarkable paint with double decontaminant effect. When used on building exteriors, the paint is a highly effective decontaminant of pollutants in towns and cities and also reduces and eliminates all odours.

Masonry Paint Applications

Graphenstone masonry paint is suitable for use on a wide variety of exterior surfaces commonly used in the construction industry. This includes:

Mortar

Brick

Concrete

Before applying masonry paint, all surfaces must be dry, firm, and free from impurities in order for the masonry paint to set successfully.

The masonry paint is also ideal for usage in re-painting and restoration projects and the Graphene in the paint adds an extra dimension on top of the smart appearance of the freshly painted building.

Recommended application levels:

6-9 m2/L – two coats

Allow 2-4 hours drying time between applying coats, and 24 hours total drying time.

How to apply Graphenstone masonry paint

STEP 1: Apply 2 or 3 coats evenly in a V shape.

STEP 2: Paint in sections starting with the borders.

STEP 3: Without soaking the paint roller, pass the roller to spread out the paint correctly.

Do not paint on areas that are drying and avoid overlapping. Applying too much Graphenstone masonry paint can cause micro-cracks to appear.

Preparing Surfaces For Graphenstone Masonry Paint

We recommend you undertake a thorough cleaning of the area you propose to cover with Graphenstone masonry paint. Remove all algae, mould, fungi and other impure and foreign elements to ensure the surface is ready.

ON SURFACES WITH SALTY DEPOSITS  – apply Neutralysal Premium

ON SURFACES THAT ARE MOIST – apply StopWater Premium diluted 1:1 with water and paint 24 hours after its application.

ON BLISTERED OR SCALY SURFACES – scrape away any areas that can be easily removed and apply Filler TX050/TX100 Premium. This should also be used if the surface absorbs differently in different places, or if there are irregular textures, or indeed if the surface has previously been painted with strong natural or artificial colours.

ON SURFACES WITH DETERIORATING MORTAR – remove loose areas by scraping and clean up before applying Graphenstone masonry paint.

ON SURFACES WITH STRUCTURAL CRACKS – the fault or faults will need to be rectified first before covering with masonry paint.

ON SURFACES WITH OLD GLOSSY PAINT OR PUTTY – thoroughly clean the surface and sand slightly, then apply Graphenstone masonry paint.

ON FAIRLY ABSORBENT SURFACES SUCH AS BRICK, CEMENT OR BLOCKS OR PLASTER – apply AmbientPrimer Premium

ON VERY ABSORBENT SURFACES (CLAY, EARTH, ETC.) – apply Minerseal Premium.

ON WOOD OR METAL: Apply Four2Four Premium. Stir and dilute with water to 10-15% of the product weight (150-200 ml of water per litre of product approx.) to ensure a homogeneous mixture. Avoid excessive shaking to minimise bubble occlusion.

Drying

Allow each layer of Graphenstone masonry paint to dry for between 2-4 hours before applying the next coat, and then allow 24 hours once finished.

The total curing occurs during the first 30 days. It is recommended that you avoid cleaning and/or rubbing during that time.

Exterior Masonry EcoPaint Colours

Graphenstone masonry paint is available in a wide range of colours. Please refer to the paint colour chart on our site or request a free colour chart to be sent to you.

Please note that due to the mineral nature of the product, the final colour tone may vary slightly from that shown in the colour swatches. A colour exactly matching that chosen is not always obtained.

Storage of Graphenstone Masonry Paint

Keep all masonry paint in its original pack, and ensure the lid is firmly closed.

Store your paint in a cool and dry place, such as a garage, shed, or workshop. Ensure the masonry paint doesn’t freeze or become exposed to direct sunlight.

Unopened, Graphenstone masonry paint will keep for at least 12 months from the date of manufacture. During that time, the product may thicken without losing its protective and eco-paint properties.

Always shake well before use.

Guarantee

We provide a 5-year guarantee for all exterior masonry paints, but you can expect your paint to enjoy a significantly longer life span than that.

In our oldest case studies – the Cathedral de Panama, for example – surfaces to which Graphenstone masonry paint has been applied have gone a decade without needing repainting.
