Exterior House Paint

Your house’s exterior paint is important to the overall house look. So, you need to make it the most attractive based on your house design, location, durability, and weather.

There are multiple things to consider.

First, you need to consider that the exterior side of your house can withstand temperature changes, UV rays, rain, and wind. You can opt for lighter colours like whites, beiges, and soft greys for the warmer climate because these colours reflect sunlight. However, darker paints for horse exteriors can add warmth and feel cosy against snowy backdrops if you live in cooler areas.

You should also consider the finishing of the paint. The finish should be smooth because it helps your walls capture moisture and protects them from mould and damping.

Surface Preparation for Grapehnstone Exterior House Paint

Surface preparation is one of the most important steps to get a smooth finish and high durability. You can start by thoroughly cleaning the surface to remove dirt, dust, and old, flaking paint.

A pressure washer can be highly effective, ensuring the surface is clean and ready for paint. But allow the surface to dry completely before moving on.

Next, inspect the walls for any cracks or imperfections. You can use an exterior-grade filler to repair any damaged areas. However, make sure the filler is smooth and flush with the wall. Sand down any rough or patched spots to create a uniform surface, which will help the paint adhere better.

If your surface is new, porous, or highly absorbent, you must also add a primer. Graphenstone offers specific exterior primers compatible with their eco-friendly paints, so choosing the right primer will improve adhesion and the longevity of the finish. Apply a coat of primer evenly across the surface and let it dry fully before applying the paint.

How to Apply Graphenstone Exterior House Paint?

Once your surface is prepped, it’s time to dilute the paint. For the first coat, dilute Graphenstone paint with 10-15% clean water (read instructions must). This helps the paint adhere better. For additional coats, dilute less—about 5-10%—or apply it directly if the surface is primed.

When applying, use a roller, brush, or sprayer. You can start at the top of the wall and work downwards in even strokes to avoid streaks and ensure full coverage.

You must allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the next; typical drying time is around 2-4 hours, depending on humidity and temperature. Usually, two coats provide the best durability and finish to your walls.
